Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Lily who always helped others, but soon she felt very tired. One day, she discovered a magical garden and met Mother Nature, who kindly told her, “You must take care of yourself to help others.” Lily replied, "But I’m always too busy!" Mother Nature smiled. "Just like a garden needs water and sunlight to grow, you need rest and care to stay strong." Lily realized she had forgotten to rest, so she started eating well, sleeping enough, and taking breaks. Soon, she felt better and could help even more people. Moral of the Story: Taking care of yourself helps you be strong enough to help others.

Maplewood was a happy town. But one day, news came that a sneaky weasel gang was hiding near the edge of the town. The animals were worried and wondered what they should do. Big Bucks Bear, who ran Maplewood Supply Company, had a plan. “We need strong walls and traps to keep the weasels out,” he said. Big Bucks told the animals that, just like during the Cold Forest Standoff years ago, they had to stay prepared and strong. But Penny the Raccoon had another idea. “What if we try to befriend the weasels or help them find a place to live?” she asked. She reminded everyone that spending too much on defense—like when the animals once sent nuts and supplies to faraway lands—could leave them without enough for themselves. Big Bucks was persuasive. He convinced Maplewood to use almost all of their savings to build walls, just like in the Squirrel-Bird Dispute over Nut Valley, when they built forts and traps. Soon, Maplewood was pouring all its resources into Big Bucks’ projects. Penny noticed that things around town were falling apart. With so much money going to walls and gadgets, there was hardly anything left to fix schools, parks, or even make enough food! “What if we’re using up our savings on things that don’t help us every day?” she thought. Penny gathered everyone and shared her plan. “Instead of building walls, let’s work together and share what we have. The world needs peace, just like we learned in the Forest Unity Days!” She reminded them that when the animals had shared their food and tools, they had more than enough. As the animals talked and listened, they realized that the weasels weren’t all bad. They just needed help, too. Penny and her friends invited the weasels to work and play together in Maplewood, and soon they were all sharing the forest’s food and shelter. He used his skills to help rebuild schools, parks, and homes, seeing that Maplewood was stronger when everyone worked together.

She would share her toys, help her friends with their snacks, and always had a smile for everyone. One day, while playing at the park, Mia noticed a new girl sitting alone on a swing. Would you like to play with me?” But just then, a boy named Max, who liked to tease others, shouted, “Why would anyone want to play with you, Mia? You’re too nice! No one likes a goody-goody!” Mia felt a little sad, but instead of being mean back to Max, she took a deep breath and smiled. “That’s okay, Max! I think being nice is fun! Would you like to join us, too?” Max was surprised. Nobody had ever responded to him like that before. Mia’s kindness made him pause. He didn’t know what to say. Bella looked at Mia and then at Max. “I think being kind is really cool! Let’s all play together!” she said, her eyes shining. Mia led them in a game of tag, and soon everyone was laughing and having fun. Even Max couldn’t help but smile as he ran around with Mia and Bella. After a while, Max felt something different in his heart. He realized he didn’t want to be mean anymore. “I’m sorry for teasing you, Mia. I guess being kind is much better,” he said, looking down at his shoes. Mia beamed. “Thank you, Max! It’s always nice to be kind to each other. It makes us all feel good!” From that day on, Mia, Bella, and even Max became great friends. They played together every day, spreading kindness all around the park. And whenever someone felt sad or alone, Mia was always ready with a hug and a smile, reminding everyone that kindness is the best gift of all. The end.

Nylon is having issues embracing his natural curly locks. Nylon has tried everything to cover his natural curly hair from wearing baseball caps, pulling hoodies over his head with the drawstring tightly. Nylon thought to himself one night maybe if I spray my head with water and hold my hands on top of my head for 10 minutes my hair would flatten, while this did make Nylon's hair less poofy, by the time morning arrived Nylon hair was curlier and puffer than ever. Nylon figured the only other option he had was to ask his father if he could get his haircut. So, one Saturday morning Nylon's father took him to the local barbershop to get a haircut. Although this is what Nylon thought was going to be life changing, he still didn't feel any different, eventhough his hair was now gone. When Nylon returned to school on Monday all the kids were looking and pointing not quite the response Nylon was looking for, one of his classmates Syer asked him "Heyyyy, why did you cut your hair? "I thought your hair was really cool looking, I wish my hair would curl like that." Nylon gave a slight smile but on the inside he felt confused, but realized that none ever told him that they did not like his locks, no one ever made fun of him that he had extra curly hair, but instead it was his insecurities about his locks that made him feel that everyone else felt the exact same way that he did. From that day on Nylon realized sometimes being different is what makes us all be unique. Nylon went back home and told his dad that he thinks he will let his hair grow back.

One day the library media center had an unwelcomed visitor. This visitor was not an ordinary human. This visitor was not even human at all. It was from Mars. It was Martian. And it was a fly. Not a little fly that we see buzzing around out doors at picnics trying to land on juicy watermelons. But a huge fly. Almost bigger than the hand of a Pre K student. This fly was from Mars and it loved to read books. So, one day when the door to the library media center was left open by a student, this Martian fly flew right in. He was in fly heaven. He went from book to book and read how to live on Earth. What to eat to not make his belly hurt. And how to avoid humans. He was having the time of his life. Until one day, he made a big mistake. The media specialist and her assistant Miss Bee and Miss Crystal saw him in the nonfiction section. They didn't know that he was an alien. They assumed he was a mutated fly that was so big that he might bite one of their students. No matter how hard they tried they were unable to catch the fly. Soon, they gave up because they had a job to do and that was to make sure all students could come in and check out great books to read as well as help students with their Chromebooks. So Miss Bee decided to trap the fly in another room so no student could be harm by the fearsome creature.
